  • Hurricanes and the Deepwater Oil Spill Hurricanes and the Deepwater Oil Spill While the spill is a disaster in its own right, the Hurricane forecast for the 2010 season is very high and the probability of a Gulf Tropical Cyclone of some intensity should be planned for. Residents will likely be affected on the East Coast as oil makes it way down to the Gulf Stream and then up the Atlantic side. Especially along the coasts, the elderly and poorer populations depend on the Gulf for direct food supplies and their ability to fish will be limited.
