Congratulations to our 2023 Maui County Outstanding Older Americans!

The County of Maui Dept. of Housing and Human Concerns, Maui County Office on Aging (MCOA), recently announced the winners of Maui County’s 54th Annual Outstanding Older American Male and Female of Maui County. The awards program was held on Friday, May 5 at Tante’s Island Cuisine in Kahului.   The event, which coincides with May being Older Americans Month, recognized nine Maui County elders for their extraordinary achievements and voluntary work:   Stephen Kealoha of Pukalani; Pat Toyama of Kahului; Rose Freitas of Makawao; Sara Sanders of Wailuku; Betty Yamashiro of Kahului; Ulu Keahi of Lahaina; Paula Keele of Pukalani; Evalina “Nani” Watanabe of Kahului; and Judith Mikami of Kaunakakai.  All received accolades and certificates.

The top honors this year were presented to male nominee Stephen Kealoha and females Betty Yamashiro and Judith Mikami with a tie.
